Brooklyn Botanic Gardens recently published an article featuring the backyard and rooftop gardens of our project Wild in Williamsburg. Writer Jeanne Rostaing walks the reader through the 1,000 square foot backyard first, explaining the diverse array of plants (mostly indigenous to the area) and how they function to benefit the local eco-system and waterways. Then she takes a gander through the 700 square foot green roof, which boasts fruits and vegetables. Landscape designer Marni Majorelle, owner of Alive Structures, accomplished a remarkable blend of functional design and aesthetic charm. Her work provides truly special recreational spaces for the clients’ daughter and dog, as well as serene escapes for the clients from the surrounding urban chaos.
