First Series

02/10/2016

Welcome to our new think tank. CWB Architects is launching a research program that will report on various topics of interest and relevance to living and working in metropolitan environs. Our first series will be about our work environment, the modern office. In the upcoming weeks our research page will explore the origin, development and future of the “office.”   Multiple articles will be posted with each one focusing on a different aspect of the office.

We’ll begin with a history of the driving forces; political, cultural and technological, which are behind the inception and evolution of the office. The next article will be about technology; pros and cons of the way we use it and how it affects our professional and personal lives. The third post will delve into current trends that companies are participating in and their reasons for doing so. Next, we’ll investigate sustainability; our environmental impact and choices as a company, as well as the sustainability of the company itself. The next article will report on the idea of branding and how labeling and marketing one’s company under that label operates. The final installment in this series will focus on the future of the office.

6: FUTURE PREDICTIONS

As we deconstruct the concept of the office broader issues pertaining to psychology, sociology and life outside the workplace will emerge. As a follow up, we will meet with various companies based in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn and facilitate conversations with them to discuss matters related to the topics listed above. These will be recorded and presented on our research page to accompany the articles in this series on the “office.”

We are excited to commence this project and we hope you find the information we present to be engaging and useful.
