East Hampton Northwest Woods
Our challenge was to design 2,200-square feet of space that felt spacious and comfortable for both residents and guests. We divided the public and private spaces and gave each of the three bedrooms its own private bath. A cupola with operable windows draws the air up through the house. The resulting cross ventilation is so effective that the air conditioning is rarely used. An indoor-outdoor fireplace is functional throughout the spring and fall. Its decorative stovepipes actually function as flues.
