This façade's need for Rehabilitation was evident on many different levels. Over the course of time, the front façade of this Brooklyn Heights brownstone had been greatly altered, and not always in the most historically sensitive manner. When CWB was recently commissioned, this façade was in desperate need of repair and restoration. Notably, the top floor accommodated an addition with a face brick that made no attempt to blend with the historic brick of the floors below. The cornice was beyond repair and the brownstone lintels were all at risk of failure. Phase I of this project includes 100% repointing of a battered brick façade, 100% brownstone lintel replacement, new face brick at the top floor to blend with the historic brick at the lower levels, a reconstructed parapet, and a new cornice. Phase II will include rehabilitation of the front areaway entry.
