A cosmopolitan couple - a globe-trotting supermodel and a Parisian artist - came to
CWB Architects in early 2012 looking to combine their apartment with the
neighboring unit on the top floor of their west village co-op. The existing
apartment, while small, was heavily infused with the couple’s ecletic and
brooding style. Architect and firm partner Ward Welch, who specializes in
apartments and custom homes and interiors, quickly got to work designing
the ideal layout for combining the spaces.
The new apartment provides space for the newly expanded family and
sets the stage for the unique accessories collected from the couple's
travels around the world alongside vintage and reclaimed furniture pieces
and artwork by the client. The custom designed space allows for efficient
modern living with a nod to the history of the building, hallmarks of CWB
Architects’ design philosophy.
